Description
This is by far the most spectacular and beautiful route on Mt. Kenya, in which you ascend from Chogoria Route and descend through Naro Moru Route. This is only possible during dry weather.

Sample ItineraryDay 1
Depart Nairobi for the Mount Kenya Region. Arrive in
time for lunch at the Naro Moru River Lodge where you’ll
be staying overnight. The afternoon is spent at leisure
so that you have some time to acclimatise. Dinner is
at the Lodge.
Day 2
After breakfast, take some time to prepare the trekking
equipment before leaving Naro Moru River Lodge. You’ll
drive through Nanyuki, Timau and Meru arriving at Chogoria
Town before proceeding through the rain forest gate
and up to the road-head, (3200m). Overnight stay in
tents at the gate cliffs.
Day 3
After breakfast, spend the day trekking up to Mintos
Hut 4.300m, where you’ll be staying overnight.
Lunch is served on the way. Trekking time is approximately
4-5hours.
Day 4
An early start, trek along gorges Valley descending
to Lake Michaelson,stopping for lunch at the Vivienne
Falls. Trek through the magnificent castle rocks to
Mintos Hut and overnight – “whole day hiking”
Day 5
Hike up through Square Tarn to climax at Pt. Lenana,
4985m which is the third highest peak on Mt. Kenya.
Descend via Austrian Hut then down to Mackinder’s
camp for overnight in our Teleki Lodge at 4150m, walking
time 5-6 hours.
Day 6
Descend via Naro Moru Route vertical bog arriving at
the Met Station before 12h00 noon, there our vehicles
will be waiting to bring you down to Naro Moru River
Lodge. Lunch and Check-in. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7
After breakfast, check out of the Lodge and transfer
to Nairobi for your flight home or continue with onward
arrangements.
